Familiar
Today
I am my familiar
(though not my favorite)
self
My heart
I have shred
into ribbons on the
floor
Which I
dangle in the air
for the amusement of
the cat
Let her
dig claws in
and pull—it already
hurts
I want
to be like her: feel
everything hugely, then
forget
To bite
the hand that feeds
and feel its gentle touch
return
